FAIRFAX – George Mason Athletics unveiled a dynamic new strategic plan:
Patriots United. Together We Thrive, setting a bold course for the future of the department. More than just a plan, this initiative represents a unifying movement designed to inspire excellence, strengthen community connections, and propel the Patriots to new levels of competitive and institutional achievement.
"This isn't just a strategic plan—it's a movement," said
Marvin Lewis, Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics. "George Mason Athletics is the front porch of our university. It's where our spirit, pride, and ambition come to life.
Patriots United. Together We Thrive is our roadmap to build and inspire excellence on and off our competitive fields."
At the heart of
Patriots United. Together We Thrive are the foundational principles that will guide every step of this journey. To bring this vision to life, the department is grounded in a clear mission, purpose, and set of core values.
Mission: To inspire and transform lives through the power of sports.
Purpose: To unite communities by developing champions.
Core Values: Teamwork. Inclusivity. Accountability. Ambition. Innovation.
These guiding principles will drive key priorities, including enhancing the student-athlete experience, strengthening Mason's position in the Atlantic 10 Conference, and engaging the broader George Mason community.
This season marked an historic year for George Mason Athletics, as the Patriots added to their proud legacy by capturing a combined five regular season titles and conference championships -- marking the most successful year in the university's Atlantic 10 era and the highest single-season total since 1994-95.
Together, we are building a future defined by excellence, unity, and relentless ambition.
"This is our moment to realize our full potential and create a legacy that will unite 'Mason Nation' for generations to come," Lewis added.
