SCOUTING THE HOYAS
Georgetown has opened the 2025–26 campaign with a 1–1 record, highlighted by a commanding 90–45 win over Stonehill and a competitive 85–66 loss at Maryland. The Hoyas are averaging 78.0 points per game, ranking 105th nationally in scoring offense, while limiting opponents to 65.0 points (209th), resulting in a +13.0 scoring margin (140th). Georgetown has been one of the nation's most efficient shooting teams early on, hitting 44.7% from the field (105th) and 43.6% from three-point range, which ranks 14th nationally and first in the Big East. The Hoyas have also been strong at the line, sitting 29th nationally in free throws made per game (18.5) and 40th in attempts (25.5).
Junior guard Khia Miller leads Georgetown with 17.5 points per game, ranking 107th nationally while shooting 50% from the floor and 60% from three. Khadee Hession and Victoria Rivera add 11.5 points apiece, each shooting 62.5% from deep—tied for 31st nationally. Veteran guard Laila Jewett has averaged 8.5 points, 4.0 assists, and a 1.0 assist-to-turnover ratio, ranking among the Big East leaders, while Brianna Scott contributes 8.0 points and 4.5 rebounds. Inside, Cristen Carter and Chetanna Nweke have combined for 11.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game on better than 65% shooting, providing efficient post production.
Defensively, Georgetown's identity centers on pressure and activity. The Hoyas are forcing 21.5 turnovers per game, ranking 95th nationally in turnovers forced and 76th in turnover margin (+7.0), while also ranking 106th in steals per game (11.0). Their defense has limited opponents to 27.0% from beyond the arc (142nd nationally), though rebounding remains an area for improvement — Georgetown sits 324th in rebounds per game (31.5) and 296th in rebound margin (-6.5). Overall, the Hoyas' efficient perimeter scoring and defensive disruption have made them a dangerous early-season team despite their youth and rebounding challenges.
