Autumn Martinez-Robinson have garnered All-State honors in the 2024
VaSID Awards in the Women's Volleyball – University Division. Shifflett Bachmann was named the Coach of the Year and Martinez-Robinson was named to the All-State Second Team.
Just her second season with the Patriots, Martinez-Robinson started all 115 sets this season, averaging 1.35 assists, 0.58 aces, and 4.09 digs. Her 67 total service aces were the best in the A-10, 7th in the nation, and the 4th most aces in a single season in Patriot volleyball history. Her 470 digs were the 3rd most in the A-10 and is the second most digs in a single season in program history. The Lutz, Fla. native was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 1 after recording 4.56 digs per set over a weekend, including 28 digs in a single match. She finished the season with double-digit digs in all but one game. Martinez-Robinson is the first Patriot since 2018 to be named to a VaSID All-State team.
In just her third season with the Patriots, Coach Shifflett Bachmann has increased the team's total wins every season she's been at the helm. Her 11 wins this season are the most the program has had since 2010, and she's doubled the team's conference wins since she took over. The Green & Gold's eight home wins is also the most home wins since 2010. The Patriots were one of seven teams to win a set against Dayton, who made it to the third round of the NCAA tournament, this season. Shifflett Bachmann is the first Patriot coach to win this award since Pat Kendrick in 2009.
VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
