FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team concluded the season with a split of a doubleheader with Davidson on Friday at Spuhler Field. The Patriots won the first game, 6-3, while the Wildcats took the nightcap, 10-9.

GAME ONE
George Mason (21-31, 7-16 A10) took the lead against Davidson (23-28, 9-14 A10) freshman starter Cooper Cavanaugh in the bottom of the first.
Sophomore right fielder
James Quinn-Irons led off with a double down the left field line and Jones followed with a two-run home run to left-center to put the Patriots in front, 2-0.
In the bottom of the third, Jones led off with a single to left field and Smith doubled down the left field line to put runners on second and third. With two outs, Jones rumbled home on a passed ball to increase the lead to 3-0.
In the home half of the fourth, Pracht led off with a single to left field and Bardatsos belted a two-run home run to left field to extend the Patriots advantage to 5-0.
Patriots redshirt sophomore starter
Konner Eaton scattered three hits and didn't allow a run in four innings of work.
Davidson got on the board in the top of the fifth against George Mason senior reliever
Chad Gartland. With one out, Wildcats junior catcher Jacob Friend singled and junior first baseman Eli Putman followed with a double to put two runners in scoring position. Freshman right fielder Ciden Canon then lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to make it a 5-1 game.
Davidson senior third baseman Joe Haney hit a two-out, solo home run in the top of the sixth to trim the Patriots lead to 5-2.
George Mason added a run in the bottom of the seventh against Davidson freshman reliever Adam Katz. With one out, Smith was hit by a pitch and stole second. Woody then knocked in a run with a single up the middle to pad the lead to 6-2.
In the top of the ninth, Haney hit his second home run of the game to lead off the inning for the final run of the game and the 6-3 final score.
For the Patriots, Eaton tossed 4.0 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and two walks. Gartland (3-5) allowed three runs on four hits in 5.0 innings to earn the win.
For the Wildcats, Cavanaugh (1-6) allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits in 3.0 innings and took the loss. Katz gave up one run on two hits in 4.0 innings. Senior Jake Dunagan pitched the ninth.
Jones went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and two runs scored, Bardatsos was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and Woody finished 1-for-4 with one RBI.
GAME TWO
Davidson (23-29, 9-15 A10) took the lead against George Mason (21-32, 7-17 A10) senior starter
Ryan Peterson in the top of the second.
With one out, Wildcats senior shortstop Nick Calero singled and Haney doubled to put a pair of runners in scoring position. Senior right fielder Hunter Anderson then singled in a run to put the Wildcats in front, 1-0.
With two outs in the top of the fifth, Davidson junior catcher Noah Jouras singled and stole second before junior first baseman Chris Schuchart drove in a run with a double to right-center to make it 2-0.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Patriots sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs on four hits against Davidson junior starter Isaac Fix and sophomore reliever Brycen Champey.
Wood singled to short and Parks singled through the right side to put runners on the corners. After Parks stole second, Jones knocked in a run with a single up the middle to make it a one-run game at 2-1.
With one out, Woody walked to load the bases and Trimble ripped a two-run double to right field to give the Patriots the lead, 3-2. Dykstra then reached on an error, with Woody scoring on the play and Trimble stole both third and home in the inning to extend the Patriots advantage to 5-2.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Patriots sent nine batters to the plate and scored four runs on four hits to make it a 9-2 game. Jones had the big hit in the inning with a two-run home run to left field. Pracht plated a run with a sacrifice fly and Bardatsos drove in the final run of the game for the Patriots with a RBI-single.
Davidson scored the final eight runs of the game.
In the top of the seventh, the Wildcats sent 10 batters to the plate and scored four runs on three hits, two walks and two hit batters against Goodyear and junior
Britt Yount to trim the George Mason lead to 9-6.
Calero had a two-run single, Jouras knocked in a run with a single and Anderson forced in a run with a bases-loaded walk.
In the top of the eighth, Friend walked and Jouras doubled to right-center. The Wildcats then scored runs on two groundouts to pull within a run at 9-8.
With one out and one on in the top of the ninth, Anderson hit a two-two home run to right field to complete the comeback for the 10-9 final score.
For the Patriots, Peterson allowed six runs on 10 hits in 6.2 innings. Yount gave up two runs on one hit in 1.0 inning. Menaker (1-3) allowed two runs on one hit in the ninth and took the loss.
For the Wildcats, Fix surrendered five runs, four earned, on nine hits in 4.1 innings. Champey gave up four runs on three hits in 1.0 inning. Freshman Thomas Whelan (3-0) tossed 2.0 scoreless innings to earn the win. Sophomore Matt Weber closed out the game in the ninth to notch his fourth save.
Jones was 4-for-6 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored, Trimble was 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Dykstra, Bardatsos and Wood each drove in a run in the game.
