COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The George Mason women's soccer team (0-7-0) lost to Maryland (2-1-4) on Thursday night in Ludwig Field by the score of 2-0. This is the third straight season in which the Terrapins bested the Patriots and the fifth consecutive GMU-UMD meeting that resulted in a Mason loss.

Ginny Fronk recorded a career-high 11 saves on the night. The Cranberry Township, Pa., native stopped six shots in the first half and five in the second. She now has 48 saves on the season.
The two goals allowed in Thursday evening's match were long shots from over 25 yards out. The first goal occurred in the 38
th minute, when Catherine DeRosa reclaimed Mason clearance, took one dribble and launched a left-footed shot from about eight yards in front of the penalty box's semicircle. The ball curled to the top left corner of the net untouched. The Terps would go into the half with only a one goal lead.
In the second half, the Maryland offense kept the pressure on the Mason defense. The Patriots were able to ward off many of the Terrapins' shots, but the home team was able to find the back of the net again.
In the 64
th minute, Ava Morales, who had scored her first goal of the season one game prior against Towson, scored the game's second goal with another booming left-footed shot from well outside the box. After a failed Mason clearance from the defense, Morales choraled the ball in the attacking midfield, took two quick dribbles, and launched her shot from the left side of the semicircle. The ball curled to the right side of the goal, just missing the outstretched arms of the diving Fronk and into the back of the net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Mason was held scoreless, shotless and cornerless. Maryland, on the other hand had 28 total shots with 13 on goal, along with 15 awarded corner kicks.
- Ginny Fronk's 11 saves is Mason's first double-digit save game since Oct. 2, 2022, when Selamawit Caldart recorded 14 saves at Saint Louis.

The Patriots will return home this Sunday and play their final non-conference game of the season, as they will host Iowa for the first time in program history. It will also be Mason's Game of the Week;
