Mason Travels to College Park for Thursday Match at Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The George Mason women's soccer team (0-6-0) will travel to College Park, Md., and face off against Maryland (1-1-4) at Ludwig Field on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. This will be the third season in a row in which the Patriots will play the Terrapins.

LAST TIME OUT
Last Sunday, the Patriots hosted Villanova for the first time since 2003. Mason lost to the Wildcats 3-0.

Mason goalkeeper Ginny Fronk made multiple quick-reaction saves throughout the game to give the Patriots a chance to stay in the game. She had seven saves by end of the game and continues to lead the Atlantic 10 Conference in saves (37) and average saves per game (6.17).
SCOUTING MARYLAND
The Terrapins finished last season with a 4-8-5 overall record and a 3-7-0 Big Ten Conference record. They finished 11th in the conference out of 14 total teams.

Maryland started this season with a scoreless draw at American, followed by a 1-0 loss at Florida. They then drew their next three matches against Navy, James Madison and VCU by the scores of 3-3, 2-2 and 0-0, respectively. In their most recent match, the Terrapins won their first game of the season, defeating in-state rival Towson 1-0 in College Park.

Freshman forward/midfielder Lisa McIntyre leads the team in goals and points. The Philadelphia, Pa., native has two goals and an assist totaling five points on the season so far. Five other Terrapins are tied for second in points with two. McIntyre scored both of her goals at James Madison on Aug. 27. She recorded her only assist in the previous game against Navy on Aug. 24.

Four other Terrapins have recorded one goal this season. Senior midfielder Catherine DeRosa, junior defender Katie Coyle and freshman forward/midfielder Madison Krakower recorded their goals against Navy on Aug. 24, while sophomore midfielder Ava Morales scored the game-winner against Towson on Sept. 3.

Freshman forward Peyton Bernard leads the team in assists with two. She tallied back-to-back assists in the Navy and JMU games.

Junior Liz Beardsley has been the sole goalkeeper for the Terrapins all season. The Lakeland, Fla., native has recorded three shutouts and has made 16 saves this season. Beardsley also has a 1.00 goals against average and a save percentage of .727 on 53 shots.
HISTORY WITH THE TERRAPINS
Maryland leads the all-time series with the Patriots with a 19-6-1 record, with the Terrapins having won the previous four match ups. Mason has been shut out the last three meetings, having lost their most recent game to Maryland 3-0 last season.

The last time the Patriots beat the Terrapins was on Sept. 11, 2016. The Patriots won 5-2 in College Park that season.
UP NEXT
The Patriots will return home this Sunday and play their final non-conference game of the season, as they will host Iowa for the first time in program history. It will also be Mason's Game of the Week; fans will get free picnic blankets and are encouraged to stay after the game for a Postgame Picnic on the Pitch. Kickoff is scheduled for noon and can be watched on ESPN+.
