LAST TIME OUT
Last Thursday, the Patriots went on the road to face off against William & Mary in Williamsburg for the first time since 2013. Mason lost to the Tribe 4-0.

Freshman goalkeeper Ginny Fronk recorded six more saves on the night, bringing her season total to 30 saves. She now leads the Atlantic 10 Conference in total saves and saves per game, which is 6.00.
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
The Wildcats finished last season with a 4-8-4 overall record and a 3-5-2 Big East Conference record. They finished 8th in the conference out of 11 total teams.

This season, Villanova started the first four games unbeaten, going 2-0-2. They opened with a 3-0 shutout over Marist, followed by a 1-1 draw versus Lehigh. They then won their second game with another 3-0 performance, this time at Temple in Philadelphia. Their most recent game was this past Thursday, where the Wildcats played Bucknell to a 1-1 draw in Lewisburg, Pa.
Graduate student forward Makayla Stadler leads the team in goals, with the Glenview, Ill., native having scored three of the team's eight through four games. She is currently on a two-game goal streak, as she scored two goals against Temple on Aug. 27 and knocked in the team's only goal against Bucknell on Aug. 31.

Stadler also leads the team in points with six. Jackie Richards, Gabby Koluch, Maddie Fried and Olivia Packer are all tied for second with three.

The five remaining goals scored this season have all been recorded by five other Wildcats. Midfielders Maddie Fried and Gabby Koluch, along with forward Jackie Richards, all scored their goals against Marist on Aug. 17. Freshman forward Alex Little recorded her first goal of the season against Lehigh on Aug. 20, and graduate defender Olivia Packer scored her goal against Temple on Aug. 27.
Two juniors share the lead in assists with two apiece. Midfielder Brigid Molloy recorded two assists against Marist, while Megan Donnelly tabbed two assists against Temple.

Graduate student Payton Woodward has been the sole goalkeeper for the Wildcats all season. The Fayetteville, Ark., native has recorded two shutouts and has made 11 saves.
HISTORY WITH THE WILDCATS
Mason faced Villanova 16 times in the span of 20 years, starting in 1983 where the Patriots won 4-0 at George Mason Stadium. The Patriots would go on to win eight of the next nine meetings, with the one non-win being a scoreless overtime draw in 1990.

The Patriots dominate the all-time series with the Wildcats with a 12-3-1 record. It would not be for another 20 years for these two schools to meet each other again on the pitch.

The Patriots last faced off against the Wildcats on Oct. 11, 2003, when Mason edged out Villanova 1-0 in Fairfax. The last time Villanova beat Mason was on August 31, 2002, when the Wildcats beat the Patriots in Villanova, Pa., to start the season.

The Wildcats have not won in Fairfax since Oct. 30, 2001, when they won 2-1.
UP NEXT
The Patriots will travel to College Park this Thursday, Sept. 7, to face off against Maryland for the third consecutive season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and can be watched on Big Ten Plus.
