WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team lost to William & Mary in Thursday evening's road game by the score of 4-0. The Patriots finish the month of August with a 0-5-0 record.

The majority of the first half was scoreless, with William & Mary on the offensive for most of the time. The Patriots were unable to record any shots on goal in the first half, while the Tribe recorded 10 shots with six on goal.
Before the end of the first half, William & Mary scored two goals in quick succession. In the 38
th minute, freshman midfielder Lindsay Wilson scored her first goal of her college career. It took less than 10 minutes for her to cash in on her second goal, as the Scituate, Mass., native scored in the final minute of the first half.
In the second half, the Patriots managed to take four shots, with one shot being on goal. Sophomores
Sophie Davidson and
Rachel Eberly recorded a shot in the 78
th and 80
th minutes, respectively, and freshman defender
Aria Hicks recorded her first shot of the season in the 84
th minute. The only shot on goal for the Patriots was by sophomore forward
Michi Hooks, whose 86
th minute shot aimed for the bottom left part of the goal. However, it was saved by Tribe goalkeeper Morgan Wood.
The second half played out similarly to the first, as Mason was able to keep William & Mary out of their own net for the first half of the period. Then, in the 74
th minute, senior midfielder Maya Haghighi scored her first collegiate goal. The goal was assisted by Marisa McClure and Lindsay Wilson. Wilson led all scorers Thursday evening, notching five total points.
The final goal was scored in the 81
st minute by freshman forward Ava Marvin, who also recorded her first goal of her collegiate career.

Mason will return home this Sunday, September 3, to host Villanova for the first time since 2003. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and
can be watched on ESPN+. It will also be Mason's Team IMPACT day, where they will recognize Faith, their honorary teammate
that signed with the Patriots back in February.
