FAIRFAX, Va. – The Patriots are gearing up for the Meet of Champions this Saturday, at Vert Stadium in High Point, N.C.

The first event kicks-off with the women's hammer throw at 10:00 AM followed by the women's 3k steeplechase at 3:00 PM (the first track event). The teams participating in this weekend's meet consist of High Point, Elon, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, William & Mary, and Campbell.
The Patriots are now three weeks away from the A-10 Outdoor Championships in Amherst, Mass. (May 6-7).
Last Week's Meets
The Patriots competed in two different meets last weekend.
Spec Towns and Torrin Lawrence Invitational
Abigail Weening and
Lindsey Schmidt dominated the heptathlon, while
Cason Gardner did the same in the decathlon.
Weening placed 1st with 4745 points, taking 1st in the 100m hurdles, shot put, long jump and javelin throw. Schmidt grabbed the silver, winning the high jump event (4464). Gardner won the gold in the decathlon (7331 points), notching 1st place in the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m, 110m hurdles, discus throw, javelin throw and 1500m.

Field Events
Amber Askelson and
Hannah Robertson won 1st and 3rd in the women's pole vault (3.68m), and
Sidney Mays earned 7th (3.53m). In the men's,
Decker Barborek and
Colton Ocetnik won the silver and bronze (4.78m), and Brody Meyers snatched 5th (4.63m).
Maya Stanley won the silver in the women's discus at 44.95m and in the triple jump,
Dhiambi Otete earned 6th and
Kristen Alleyne 7th (11.54m, 11.48m).
Tracks Events
KellyAnn Downer and Khia Hollaway dominated the women's 200m, winning the gold and silver (24.29, 24.47).
Dean Johnson snatched 5th in the men's 110m hurdles (14.96), and in the 100m dash, Max Caren won the bronze (10.73).
Annabelle Eastman brought home the gold in the 3k steeplechase with a time of 10:02.44 and
Nourene Nabbus finished 4th (11.19.62).
James Seal also won 1st place in the 5k (14:12.85).

The Patriots will travel to Annapolis, Md., next weekend, to compete at the Navy Spring Meet II.
