FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's and men's swimming and diving teams are home to face Duquesne and La Salle in the two-day A-10 Classic on Friday and Saturday at the Aquatic and Fitness Center in Fairfax, Va.
Last time out, the Patriots' men's team won its two-day dual against Davidson, 214-190, at the Richmond Duals held at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Va. The women's team defeated Duquesne on day one, 152-147 and fell to Richmond on day two, 177-122.
Junior
Zane Roberts was selected Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, while freshman
Ian Rodgers was named A-10 Men's Rookie of the Week after the event.
Roberts won the 50-yard freestyle (21.12) and 100-yard freestyle (46.01) on day one and claimed the 100-yard breaststroke (58.39) on the second day of competition. He also placed second in the 400-yard freestyle (3:05.57) and helped the Patriots touch the wall first in the 400-yard medley relay (3:23.21).
Rodgers won four individual events at the Richmond Duals, placing first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:51.41) and 200-yard backstroke (1:49.88) on day one, then won the 50-yard butterfly (22.77) and 50-yard backstroke (23.59) on day two. He was also a member of the 400-yard medley relay team that took the top spot (3:23.21).
At the 2022 A-10 Classic, held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio on Oct. 29-30, the men's team placed second and the women's team finished third.

ABOUT THE PATRIOTS
The Mason men's team has 16 returners and nine newcomers on the roster under interim head coach
Jamie Greenwood.

THE PATRIOTS SCHEDULE
The George Mason men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in eight events during the 2023-24 season, with three events at home including the annual Patriot Invitational at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
The Patriots opened the campaign against American, Georgetown, Howard and Mount St. Mary's at the Potomac Relay Invitational (Sept. 22) hosted by American University at the Reeves Aquatic Center in Washington, D.C. The Mason women's team placed second (300 points) and the men's team was third (304 points) in the event.
Mason traveled to take on Towson (Oct. 7) at Burdick Pool in Towson, Md. The Patriots' women's team won two of 16 events and fell to the Tigers, 198-102. The Mason men's team finished first in six of 16 events but dropped a 189-105 decision to Towson.
The Patriots faced Atlantic 10 Conference opponents for the first time at the Richmond Duals (Oct. 13-14) held in Hampton, Va. The men's team won its two-day dual against Davidson, 214-190. The women's team earned a 152-147 win over Duquesne on the first day of competition and lost to Richmond, 122-177, on day two.
The Patriots return home for a two-day meet against Duquesne and La Salle (Oct. 27-28) at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
Mason stays in Fairfax to host the annual Patriot Invitational (Nov. 16-18) at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
The Patriots will compete at the U.S. Open (Nov. 29-Dec. 2) in Greensboro, N.C.
The 2024 portion of the schedule begins with the Patriots on the road against James Madison and Fairfield (Jan. 13) in Harrisonburg, Va. The final road dual of the season has Mason at Old Dominion (Jan. 20) in Norfolk, Va.
The Patriots conclude the regular season with a home dual against UMBC (Jan. 27).
The Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships will be held Feb. 21-24 at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Va.
The NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships will be hosted by the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga., while the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships will be hosted by the University of Indiana in Indianapolis, Ind.
