LAST TIME OUT
The Patriots are looking to secure a victory on the road after Thursday's home game against East Carolina.
Graduate student midfielder Sarah DeWitt gave the Patriots the lead after scoring off a penalty kick that junior forward Ashley Shimberg drew in the 57th minute. The Pirates would level the score, however, five minutes later. Then, with thirty seconds remaining, the Pirates converted on a late corner kick, ultimately stealing a victory in Fairfax.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
Princeton started their season with three straight wins against Colgate, Fairfield and Rhode Island. The Tigers are coming into Sunday's game on a two-game losing streak. They lost to #9 Rutgers 3-0 last Sunday and lost to Louisiana State 2-0 the following Thursday.
Princeton finished their 2021 season with an overall record of 15-3-1, with a 6-1 record in the Ivy League Conference. They return their third leading scorer and points leader of that season, sophomore midfielder Lily Bryant, who had six goals and four assists last season. They also return sophomore Heather MacNab, who is their current points leader this season with three goals and one assist.
HISTORY WITH THE TIGERS
Mason leads Princeton in head-to-head matchups with a 4-3 all-time record.
The first meeting between the two was during Mason's inaugural season in 1982 in the first annual NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament. The Tigers knocked the Patriots out in the first round 1-0. Mason would win the next four consecutive games spanning from 1986 to 1991. It would not be until 2002 that the two programs would meet again and once more in 2021, where Princeton won both games.
