FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason baseball team dropped the final game of its series against Saint Louis, 4-2, on Sunday at Spuhler Field.

Mason (8-15, 1-3 A-10) fell behind in the top of the second when Saint Louis (11-20, 3-1 A-10) scored three runs against Patriots senior starter Austin Cabone.

Freshman center fielder Colin Bergmann and junior catcher Ryan Hernandez each drove in a run with a single, and Bergmann scored later in the inning on a wild pitch to put the Billikens in front 3-0.

The Patriots responded in the home half of the fourth against Saint Louis freshman starter Matt Boyer.

With one out, graduate student designated hitter Cooper Mrowka hit his third home run of the season, a solo blast over the left field fence to make the score 3-1.

Mason graduate student left fielder Jack DeLongchamps then doubled to right, and that forced the Billikens to make a pitching change, with sophomore Grant Fremion taking over on the mound.

Mason senior second baseman Daniel Brooks then walked to put runners on first and second.  With two outs, freshman third baseman South Trimble knocked in DeLongchamps with a single to make it a one-run game, 3-2.

Saint Louis added a run in the top of the eighth on a RBI-single by sophomore Colten Schild for the 4-2 final.  The Billikens took 3-of-4 in the series.

For the Patriots, Cabone (0-1) allowed three runs on five hits in 5.2 innings and took the loss.  Junior Nick Zegna gave up one run on three hits in 2.1 innings.  Freshman Sang Ho Baek tossed a scoreless ninth.

For the Billikens, Boyer allowed two runs on four hits in 3.1 innings in a no-decision.  Fremion (1-0) allowed just two hits in 3.2 innings to earn his first win of the season.  Sophomore Reid Hendrickson threw two scoreless frames to pick up his second save of the season.

Trimble went 2-for-5 and drove in a run, while Mrowka hit his third home run at Spuhler Field this season.

The Patriots are back in action April 16-18 when they travel to Dayton for a four-game series against the Flyers.
