FAIRFAX, Va. - The thirteenth ranked George Mason men's volleyball team (6-4, 1-0) will face EIVA foe Harvard (7-2, 1-0) on Friday and Saturday inside the RAC to begin a four-game conference home stand.
The four EIVA home games will be the first of seven straight conference games for the Green & Gold. The seven-game conference slate is the longest of the season for Mason, the Patriots end the season with six EIVA contests following a non-conference stint against Ohio State, Long Beach State, UC Irvine and King University.
LAST TIME OUT
Mason last played on Saturday, defeating Tusculum in straight sets (25-13, 25-22, 25-13) in the two programs first meeting between one another.
Senior Sam Greenslade and redshirt junior Jack Reese combined for 14 kills (seven each), while sophomore Richie Hoff earned a career high nine service aces.
The nine service aces by Hoff puts him in sole possession of second place in Mason's all-time single game service ace record, behind only Michael Kvidahl who notched 10 in a single game (at Princeton, 3/10/12).
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON (7-2, 1-0 EIVA)
Harvard has begun the season on the right foot, defeating EIVA opponent Sacred Heart in four sets (28-26, 24-26, 25-23, 25-18) on Jan. 31. The victory is included in the Crimson's current five-game winning streak.
Senior Matthew Ctvrtlik ranks first in the EIVA and fourth in the NCAA with 10.55 assists per set. Ctvrtlik won the most recent EIVA Offensive Player of the Week award selected by the conference.
Harvard will look to neutralize the Patriots' hard hitting offense as the Crimson ranks fourth nationally in digs per set (10.38).
