FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason women's soccer team (2-4-1) begins their Atlantic 10 conference play Sunday, as they take on Dayton (2-5-1) at 1 p.m. at Baujan Field.
The Flyers lead the all-time series 4-3-0 against the Patriots. The last time these two programs met, Mason earned a 2-1 victory at George Mason Stadium, after sophomore Emma van der Vorst earned a penalty kick goal in the 53rd minute.
The Patriots will look to win their first match at Baujan Field, as Mason is 0-3-0 at the venue.
Last time out, the Patriots earned their second home victory of the season defeating Towson by a score of 1-0. In her first start of the season, junior goalkeeper Louisa Moser helped the Mason defense record their first shutout of the season. The Patriots' goal came from redshirt junior Emily Bradshaw, who notched her second score of the season.
In the Flyer's final non-conference match, the team broke a four-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Eastern Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Dayton has been led by a duo of freshman, Laney Huber and Alexis Goins. Huber is the Flyers' leading scorer with eight points (three goals and two assists). Goins has also notched three goals thus far.
