FAIRFAX, Va. – Senior
Aaron Cymbor and redshirt freshman
Mike Kapusta were named to the 2019 EIVA All-Academic Team, the league announced Tuesday. This is the first EIVA All-Academic honor of Cymbor and Kapusta's career.
To be recognized for the award, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and must not be a true freshman.
Cymbor, a State College, Pa., native boasts the team's highest GPA of 3.57. The middle blocker will graduate in May with a degree in Music Technology. He has appeared in 11 sets this year, providing a lift to Mason's service game.
Kapusta has earned a 3.38 GPA as a management major. Appearing in eight sets this year, the outside hitter has totaled 19 kills and 10 digs this season. He shined in Mason's regular season finale against Harvard, tallying five kills on 10 attempts.
This is the second straight season two Patriots have earned a spot on the EIVA All-Academic Team. In 2018,
Brian Negron and
Johnny Gomez were recognized for their accomplishments on and off the court.
