FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's cross country teams will face one final test before championship season begins. The Patriots are set to compete in the Princeton Invitational on Saturday at West Windsor Fields in Princeton, N.J.
The Mason men will take off on the 8k course at 10 a.m., followed by the women in the 6k race at 10:45 a.m.
The field consists of 28 scheduled teams, including A-10 foes George Washington, La Salle, Fordham, Duquesne and Davidson.
The Patriots then return home to host the Atlantic 10 Championships on Nov. 2 at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va. The A-10 Championship will be held at Oatlands Plantation for the second time in the last three years.
Last time out, the Patriots competed in the 46th running of the Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh, on Oct. 5 in Bethlehem, Pa. The Mason men finished 29th in the 8k race with 747 points while the women placed 35th with 861 points.
Several Patriots tabbed personal bests in their respective races. In the men's 8k,
Jake Lonsdale (25:08.4),
Hunter Jutras (24:38.6),
Thomas Amabile (24:55.8),
Colin Cannon (25:36.2),
Jack Ikenberry (24:38.5) and
Willem Landis (25:36.7) notched career-best times.
On the women's 6k course,
Riley Freeland (22:54.5),
Maggie Larkin (22:38.8),
Patrice Mitchell (24:23.2),
Margaret Morgan (22:07.5),
Allison Rice (22:38.4),
Noelle Saine (22:39.5),
Sarah Richart (22:16.3) and
Samantha Wood (23:32.1) recorded personal bests.
After the A-10 Championships on Nov. 2 at Oatlands Plantation, the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship will take place on Nov. 15 in Earlysville, Va., hosted by the University of Virginia.
