FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's volleyball team suffered a straight-set loss to Saint Louis on Saturday night. The Patriots move to 4-13 overall and 0-5 in Atlantic 10 play. The Billikens picked up their fourth straight win to improve to 4-1 in conference play.
Mason wraps up its four-game homestand with a pair of matches against Duquesne (Oct. 18) and La Salle (Oct. 19) next weekend.
Sophomore
Peyton Ehmke led the Patriots, hitting .400 in the match with six kills and no attacking errors. She also added two blocks. Freshman
Stephanie Der registered a match-high 15 digs while freshman
Jewel Clark recorded three blocks in the loss.
Debuting a new rotation, the Patriots had several new faces step up in the match. Sophomore
Katie Parmalee saw her first action of the season, posting four kills, three digs and one block. Junior
Emily Konchan added 12 assists and six digs against the Billikens.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Saint Louis outhit Mason, .337 to .088. The Billikens tallied 47 total kills compared to Mason's mark of 29.
- The Billikens registered six service aces and seven blocks.
- The first set saw three ties and two lead changes, but the Billikens used several short scoring runs to take the frame, 25-18.
- The Billikens used its highest hitting percentage of the match, .367, to claim the second set 25-17. The Patriots were held to seven team kills compared to SLU's mark of 16.
- Saint Louis tabbed five of its seven blocks in the third set of play. The Billikens won the set, 25-15, to cruise to victory.
- Siron Hardy added six kills and three digs while ShaLi Niu recorded five kills and three blocks.
