FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to Dayton on Friday night. The Patriots drop to 4-12 overall and 0-4 in Atlantic 10 play while the Flyers improve to 11-6 overall and 4-0 in the A-10.
Up next, Mason hosts Saint Louis at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the RAC for Girl Scouts Night.
Sophomore
Siron Hardy led the Patriots with a team-high 10 kills at a .280 clip while senior
Bailey Williams added six kills and ten digs. Freshman
Stephanie Der stepped in on defense, tallying 11 digs in two sets of play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Patriots outhit the Flyers in the first set, .214 to .205. However, Dayton used 14 team kills on 39 attempts to claim the set, 25-21.
- Dayton scored nine straight points in the second set to take the frame, 25-9. The Flyers finished the set on a 9-2 scoring run.
- The Flyers had a set-high hitting percentage of .619 in the second stanza, with 13 kills and no attacking errors.
- Hardy registered five kills in the third set but it was not enough as the Patriots dropped the frame, 25-19. Der also contributed nine digs in the final set of play.
- Dayton outblocked Mason, 6.5 to two.
