FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team will take on a team in the top-25 in the national rankings for the second time this season, facing No. 8 Georgetown on Sunday afternoon with the kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va.
The match was originally scheduled to be played at Shaw Field in Washington, D.C., but was moved due to field conditions.
For the second straight time in the all-time series, a game between the Patriots and Hoyas has had a venue change.
The Patriots and Hoyas played an evening match at George Mason Stadium on Sept. 8, 2016, a game that was originally scheduled to be played in the afternoon at Georgetown. The match was moved due to the forecast for excessive heat, giving the Patriots a fifth consecutive home game, equaling their second-longest homestand since 1995.
Mason (4-2-0) improved to 3-0-0 at home after a 3-2 victory over James Madison on Thursday. The Patriots have posted all four of their victories this season by a single goal.

Morgan Symmers (4-1-0, 1.51) has made seven saves during the three-game winning streak. She is tied for first in the Atlantic 10 in victories by a goalkeeper.
When Mason steps on the pitch against Georgetown, the Patriots will be facing an unbeaten team for the seventh straight game.
The Patriots fell to the Hoyas 4-1 on Sept. 8, 2016 in the last meeting between the two clubs. Georgetown scored a pair of goals in each half and outshot Mason 12-5, including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Mason is 3-2-0 all-time against Georgetown, with every game played in the month of September.
The Patriots won the first three meetings in the all-time series. Mason claimed a 2-1 road win on Sept. 9, 2003, a 3-1 victory at George Mason Stadium on Sept. 11, 2004 and blanked the Hoyas 2-0 in the Hartford Tournament on Sept. 6, 2006.
The Hoyas have earned a victory in each of the last two meetings. Georgetown posted a 4-0 win on Sept. 4, 2010 in Washington, D.C. and the No. 20 Hoyas earned a 4-1 win on Sept. 8, 2016 at George Mason Stadium.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
No. 8 Georgetown has an overall record of 4-0-2. The Hoyas are 1-0-1 at home, 2-0-1 on the road and 1-0-0 in games played at a neutral site.
The Hoyas defeated No. 17 West Virginia, 2-0, on Sunday in Morgantown, W. Va.
Georgetown junior defender Meaghan Nally, who was a preseason All-BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year selection, scored her first goal of the season in the 35th minute. Graduate student Kyra Carusa netted her second goal of the year in the 76th minute.
Nally was tabbed BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for her effort against the Mountaineers.
Hoyas senior goalkeeper Arielle Schechtman, a preseason All-BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year selection, was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season after recording two shutouts last week.
Schechtman (3-0-2, 0.18 GAA) has four shutouts on the season and is Georgetown's all-time leader with 36 shutouts in her career.
Carusa leads the Hoyas in goals (3) and points (7), while senior forward Caitlin Farrell is second on the team in goals (2) and points (4). Farrell also leads the Hoyas in shots (26) and shots on goal (18).
The Hoyas have registered wins over Georgia (1-0, Aug. 17), Yale (3-1, Aug. 26), at George Washington (1-0, Aug. 30) and at No. 17 West Virginia (2-0, Sept. 2). Georgetown played to double overtime draws, at Virginia Tech (1-1, Aug. 19) and against No. 11 Duke (0-0, Aug. 23).
Georgetown was ranked No. 22 to begin the season and the Hoyas are now No. 8 in the nation. It's the highest that the Hoyas have been ranked since the 2017 preseason poll, when they were ranked No. 5.

Hoyas assistant coach Lyndse Hokanson was a three-year starting goaltender and team captain for the Patriots from 2012-14. She ranks in the top 10 all-time at Mason in saves (199), goals against average (1.33) and shutouts (10).
