FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team concludes its three-game homestand against James Madison on Thursday, with the kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.
Mason (3-2-0) defeated East Carolina 2-1 on Sunday afternoon to stay perfect at home.
The Patriots trailed in the match before freshman forward
Emma van der Vorst scored her second goal in as many games, netting the equalizer off a cross in the 20th minute of play. Mason graduate students

Gabriela Rivera each picked up their first assist for the Patriots on the goal.

Nia Elbeck scored the game-winning goal off of a corner kick in the 57th minute, with classmate
Rebecca Callison picking up the assist.
Elbeck was named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week after scoring her fourth career game-winner, while van der Vorst was selected A-10 Rookie of the Week after scoring her first two collegiate goals.
Mason is 3-0-0 in games decided by one goal. Three different Patriots have registered a game-winning goal, Rivera at ETSU (Aug.16), sophomore
Sara Chontosh against Old Dominion (Aug. 30) and Elbeck against ECU (Sept. 6).

The Patriots haven't faced the Dukes since the 2013 season when Mason dropped a 2-1 decision to James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va. The Patriots last met the Dukes at home seven years ago, with Mason blanking James Madison 1-0 on Oct. 2, 2011 at George Mason Stadium.
Mason is 11-16-4 all-time against James Madison, with 20 of the 31 matches either decided by a single goal or ending in a draw.
SCOUTING JAMES MADISON
James Madison has an overall record of 1-4-0 in the first five games of the season. The Dukes have a mark of 1-3-0 at home and are 0-1-0 on the road.
The Dukes have had a full week between games. Last time out, James Madison fell to then-No. 5 Penn State 3-0 on Thursday, Aug. 30 at Sentara Park in Harrisonburg. The Nittany Lions outshot the Dukes 12-4, including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
James Madison posted a 3-0 home victory over Maryland on Aug. 19, handing the Terrapins their first non-conference loss in nearly two years.
In their lone road match of the season, the Dukes dropped a 3-2 decision against Villanova on Aug. 22 at Higgins Soccer Complex in Philadelphia, Pa.
Junior forward Haley Crawford, sophomore forward Ginger Deel and freshman midfielder Abby Maltese are tied for the team lead in goals (2), while Crawford and Deel are tied for the team lead in points (6).
In goal, junior Hannah McShea (1-4-0, 2.00) has made 19 saves over five starts this season.
