FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason senior forward Nia Elbeck has been named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman forward Emma van der Vorst has been selected A-10 Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
 
Elbeck, from Hanover, Md., scored in the 57th minute against East Carolina on Sunday, netting her fourth career game-winner to propel the Patriots to a 2-1 victory over the Pirates.
 
Emma van der Vorst, a native of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, scored a goal in each game this past week and leads the Patriots with two goals and four points on the season.
 
The rookie forward netted her first collegiate goal on a penalty kick in the 48th minute against Old Dominion (Aug. 30) and tallied the equalizer in the 20th minute in Mason's 2-1 win over East Carolina (Sept. 2).
 
Mason (3-2-0) concludes its three-game homestand on Thursday, hosting James Madison with the kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.
