FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's track and field teams finish with positive results at a pair of ACC challenges.
The Patriots split up to compete on Friday and Saturday at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C. and the UVA Challenge in Charlottesville.
Duke Invitational
On the men's side in day one, Senior
Raeshawn Bishop came in fourth in the long jump with 7.03m. Freshman
Jordan Turner competed in the 100m, and came in 9th place out of 34 participants (11.16). In the 3,000m steeplechase, it was a new personal record for senior
Trent Lancaster who came in third in the race (9:12.62).
The women's team had a good showing in Durham, freshman
Kiana Stallworth continued her impressive rookie campaign, coming in third in the long jump (5.75m). Freshman
Catherine Jackson came in first in the 100m hurdles (14.78), and sophomore
Taylor Williams came in second in the 100m (12.14). Sophomore
Khalilah Hamer placed in the top-10 with a seventh place finish in the 3000m steeplechase (11:08.45).
The best performance of the day for the women's team came in the 400m. Three Patriots placed in the top-15, junior
Sarah Moore came in second (53.85) just behind Duke's Madeline Price. Senior
Sharon Dorsey finished seventh (55.41) and sophomore
Ashley Lewis finished 12th (55.94).
UVA Challenge
Over in Charlottesville, senior
Shelby Garnand posted a top five finish in the women's pole vault (3.71m).
The Patriots return to action Thursday, as they head to Philadelphia to participate in the Penn Relays.
