Nicole Cardaño-Hillary is picking up right where she left off.
George Mason's sophomore point guard was named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday as the league announced its first weekly awards of the season. Last year, she was named the A-10 Rookie of the Year and earned A-10 Rookie of the Week honors six times.
The point guard from Madrid, Spain, averaged 25.5 points in a pair of victories to open up the season last week. In the season opener on Tuesday, she scored 26 points in a 70-38 victory over Loyola (Md.) on at home at EagleBank Arena. She made 10 of 16 from the field with three 3-pointers and scored 16 points in the first half.
On Friday, she helped the Patriots open the season 2-0 for the first time in 13 years. She scored 25 points in a 78-71 victory at Air Force. In addition, she dished out six assists with zero turnovers and nabbed three steals. She also shot 10 of 14 from the free-throw line. She has now scored in double figures in 35 of 36 career games.
Cardano-Hillary and the Patriots are back in action against American at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Washington, D.C.
