FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team scored the first goal, but the Patriots allowed four unanswered goals in the second half in a 4-1 setback against Saint Joseph's on Thursday evening at George Mason Stadium.
Mason (8-5-0, 3-2-0 A-10) freshman forward
Emma van der Vorst gave the Patriots an early lead, scoring her ninth goal of the season on a breakaway in the first minute of play to put Mason up 1-0. She has scored nine goals in the last 10 games.
"Emma finished her chance well there early on," Mason head coach
Todd Bramble said. "Where we are a little disappointed tonight is how we are playing with the lead. Saint Joseph's is a good team and they fought back like you'd expect any good team to do. We got to halftime 1-0, but we could already feel the momentum swinging in their favor."
