FAIRFAX, Va. – On Wednesday, the George Mason women's basketball team scored more than 80 points for the fifth time this season.

The points figure to be harder to come by on Sunday afternoon.

The top two defenses and two of the top teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference square off when the Patriots host Fordham at 2 p.m. on Sunday on Girl Scout Day at EagleBank Arena. Mason (16-5, 5-2) is currently fourth in the A-10 standings, with the Rams (16-5, 7-1) just ahead in third.

The Rams rank first in the A-10 – and seventh nationally – in scoring defense allowing just 54 points a game. Mason has the second-best scoring defense in the league, surrendering just 59.5 points a contest.

The nation's top two rebounders also will be battling around the basket. Mason graduate student Natalie Butler leads the country with 15.6 rebounds a game and 20 straight double-doubles, most in the nation and fifth-longest streak in Division I history. Fordham senior G'mrice Davis averages 13.3 rebounds a game and is third in the nation with 18 double-doubles.

The matchup also will feature three of the top five scorers in the A-10 – Mason freshman Nicole Cardaño-Hillary (first, 18.4 ppg), Butler (second, 17.9) and Davis (tied for fourth, 16.6).

Fordham has won two straight and nine of 10. The Rams' lone loss during that stretch was a 63-62 setback to conference leader Dayton (15-4, 8-0), one of two remaining unbeaten teams in league play.

In addition to Davis, freshman Bre Cavanaugh averages 16.1 points and 4.6 rebounds. Junior guard Lauren Holden averages 10.1 points and 2.6 assists.

The Patriots are coming off a 81-72 victory over Saint Louis on Wednesday at home. Four players scored in double figures, led by Butler's 17 points and 21 rebounds and Cardaño-Hillary's 16 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter. Sophomores Sarah Kaminski and Jacy Bolton each scored 11 points.

Mason extended its school-record home winning streak to 13 games, which dates back to last season. The Patriots are 12-0 at home this year, surpassing the previous single-season EagleBank Arena record of 11 set in 2000-01.

Fordham leads the all-time series 5-3 and has won the last four meetings. The Rams edged the Patriots 53-59 last January in Fairfax in the teams' only matchup of the season.
