FAIRFAX, Va. – Coming off a bye week, the George Mason women's basketball team aims to begin a new winning streak.

The Patriots wrap up a three-game road trip by playing Rhode Island at 2 p.m. on Sunday in Kingston, R.I. Mason (13-4, 2-1 Atlantic 10) hasn't played since last Sunday when it dropped a 62-52 decision at rival George Washington for its first A-10 loss of the season.

Rhode Island (2-15, 0-4) has lost seven straight. The Rams, who last won on Dec. 11 against Fairfield, is coming off a 61-49 loss to VCU on Wednesday. They are paced by sophomore center Nicole Jorgensen, who leads the team in scoring (12.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.8 rpg).

The teams have met just four times – all coming in the last four years since Mason joined the A-10. The series is split at 2-2, with the Patriots winning the last two meetings. They defeated the Rams 60-51 on Feb. 15, 2017 in Fairfax.

Mason graduate student Natalie Butler leads the country in rebounding (15.2 rpg) and is tied for the most double-doubles (16) in the nation. She posted 16 points and 18 rebounds at George Washington last Sunday to become the 11th player in Division I history with 16 straight double-doubles. The Fairfax Station, Va., native, also leads the Atlantic 10 in scoring (18.4 ppg).

Freshman Nicole Cardaño-Hillary ranks second in the A-10 in scoring (18.2 ppg). The 5-foot-7 point guard from Madrid, Spain, also leads the league in steals (43). She ranks second among Division I freshmen in scoring and third in steals. Her 26 points against George Washington on Sunday were the most by a Mason freshman since Nov. 24, 2001.
