FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's lacrosse team hits the road for spring break, looking to build a winning streak.
The Patriots play High Point at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in High Point, N.C., for the first of three straight road games. The teams have split their only two previous contests with Mason winning the most recent meeting 14-13 during the 2013 season.
Mason (2-2) is coming off a 16-10 home victory over Liberty on Saturday. Sophomore
Chachi Kelehan tied a career high with five goals and dished out an assist for a six-point day. Senior captains
Brooke Lorber and
Alexa McGovern each scored three goals. Kelehan has scored her first nine goals of the season in the last two games to lead the team. She also has a team-high 12 points and shares the team lead with three assists.
High Point (2-3) has won two straight, both coming against Power Five conference schools – a 17-13 win against Oregon and a 13-12 victory at Michigan on Friday. The Panthers' three losses have come against teams that were ranked or are currently ranked – then No. 1 North Carolina, No. 19 Elon and then-No. 19 James Madison. High Point is led by junior Darla Poulin, who paces the team with 11 goals and six assists.
