Fairfax, Va. – George Mason University's men's volleyball team will return to conference play in its only match of the weekend when it hosts EIVA newcomer Charleston (W.V.) at the RAC on Friday afternoon.

Mason closed out its non-conference schedule in midweek when the Patriots fell just short of upsetting No. 14 UC Irvine in a five-set thriller. Redshirt junior outside hitter Jack Wilson continued with his impressive performances as of late and finished with a match-high 25 kills while junior libero Johnny Gomez (13) and outside hitter Christian Malias (12) combined for more than half of the Patriots' 44 digs on the night.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

Charleston going through the roughest patch of its season, having lost the last nine games, in which the Golden Eagles have won a total of three sets. Mason swept Charleston in the two teams' EIVA opener on Jan. 16, but the win in West Virginia did not come easy by any means and head coach Jay Hosack will certainly remind his men of the damage that the motivated Golden Eagles are capable of inflicting before Friday's third meeting between both programs. In addition, the Golden Eagles have earned all four of their victories this season away from home. The contest will complete an eight-match road trip for Charleston. Most recently, the Golden Eagles traveled to North Carolina, where they took a set from Belmont Abbey.

Eugene Stuart, who was the main source of Mason's trouble in the first match, leads Charleston with 118 kills this season. Rajahl Moxey also has triple-digit kills to his name with 111, including a team-best 2.06 kills per set. Indy Nenn is Charleston's most prominent defender with 102 digs. Stuart and Moxey are also the main contributors at the net with 56 combined blocks.
