2017: Played in 81 sets over the course of the season, mostly as Mason’s starting libero…recorded one kill, at Harvard (Feb. 12)…his only point of the season. Gomez was Mason’s main producer of digs with a team-high total of 187 and with 2.31 digs per set (fifth-best in EIVA). On the offensive end, he dished out 50 assists, which was third-most by a Patriots player and the most by a non-setter. The 2017 Second Team All-EIVA selection had season-high four assists in the matches against Cal State Northridge (March 11) and at USC (March 13) on the team’s trip out West for the Active Ankle Classic. Defensively, his best performance was against Sacred Heart (April 1), when he had 19 digs, one of his seven double-digit performances for the season…earned multiple EIVA Defensive Player of the Week honors for second-straight season with two in 2017.
2016: Led the team with 297 digs and posted a nation-high 3.03 digs per set mark…Had 26 matches with double-figure digs. The All-American Honorable mention recorded two matches with season-high 20 digs. He finished the season with 11 of 13 matches in double-figure dig numbers…Set then-season-high of 19 digs against Harvard (2/20)…Topped season-high with 20 digs against Penn State (4/16)…Repeated 20 dig performance in the EIVA Championship match against Saint Francis (Pa.) (4/23)…Finished the season with 44 assists. Gomez had four assists at Sacred Heart (4/1) and against Ohio State (5/3) in the NCAA Tournament.
2015: Played in seven sets for the Patriots this season. Recorded two digs and two assists.
Belmont Abbey College: Played volleyball last season at Belmont Abbey before transferring to George Mason … made the Presidential Honor Roll … named to the Freshman All-American team by Off-The-Block … played in 83 sets and picked up 224 digs, averaging 2.70 per set (5th in the Nation).
Prep: Earned four letters in football, two letters in lacrosse and one letter in track at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy … awarded as a Highest Honors student with a 4.10 GPA … placed third in the Puerto Rican National Championships the last three years … All-Tournament Team in 2013.
