Fairfax, Va. - After dominating a field of 40 runners from four additional institutions at the JMU Invitational in the muddy terrain of the New Market Battlefield, George Mason University's men's cross country team retained its No. 14 ranking in the Southeast region in the latest USTFCCCA poll released on Monday.
Redshirt senior Stuart Lampen-Crowell and junior Adam LaFemina returned to racing in style after missing the season opener and grabbed the first two places with respective finish times of 25:49 and 25:57 in the 7.9-kilometer race. Redshirt Grayson Morgan registered another top-three team finish with a time of 26:32, which was good for fourth overall finish.
In general, there is minimal change in the Southeast region ranking and it comes in the top 10, where High Point replaces Wake Forest from the No.9 spot.
The top remains unchanged with Virginia, Furman, and North Carolina still leading the pack, followed by Eastern Kentucky and NC State, respectively, in the top five.
Virginia Tech, Louisville, and Kentucky also retain their positions from last week, but the Wildcats are now followed by the Panthers rather than the Demon Deacons, who are still close behind at No. 10.
There is no change in the final third, where Duke, William and Mary and Appalachian State still precede the Patriots, who are followed by Liberty.
