FAIRFAX, Virginia - Brian Negron, an incoming freshman for the men's volleyball team, has been selected to the preliminary Puerto Rican national team for the upcoming FIVB World League competition.
Negron, a 6'7" setter, already had participated in two world championships by the time he was just 15 years old.
Head Coach Fred Chao desrcibed Negron as "an accomplished student and a person of character", as well as "the top prospect coming from Puerto Rico" after signing him to a National Letter of Intent in December.
Back in high school, Negron was selected to the Al-Alliance team three times. The San Juan native also brings a lot of international experience to the Patriot team.
The FIVB World League starts on May 23 with Puerto Rico in Group G.
