Baseball Hosts Saint Joseph's, Senior Day This Weekend

The Patriots and the Hawks will meet this weekend for the first time in program history and for the first time as Atlantic 10 Conference members. Saint Joseph's comes to Fairfax as the top team in the conference with an A-10 record of 15-5. Mason is currently tied for third with VCU at 13-6.

Saturday, May 10 will be Youth Baseball Day at Spuhler Field. All youth baseball players wearing their team jersey will receive free admission, a raffle ticket to win prizes, free popcorn and an opportunity to run the bases after the game. Full information can be found here. Sunday May 11 is Senior Day, where the team's 14 seniors will be honored prior to game time. 

 The Patriots rank third in conference batting average (.274), first in ERA (3.32) and tied for third in fielding percentage (.965) while the Hawks are tied for first in batting average (.298), second in ERA (3.61) and tied with Mason at a .965 fld %. 

The Green and Gold have won four of their last five games, most recently 2-0 over Longwood on Tuesday when Blaise Fernandez hit a walk-off homerun down the left field line, his second of the season and his team leading 31st & 32nd RBI. 

Saint Joe's had a 10-game winning streak snapped last Sunday vs. Richmond and has won 15 of its past 17 ballgames. Colin Forgey leads the conference with a .371 average while Daniel Thorpe and Jordan Carter are 6th and 7th in ERA, respectively. Jared Gaynor and Anthony          Montefusco still rank 1st and 2nd in ERA with a 1.31 and 1.41.
