George Mason is set to return to the court for its home opener on Thursday, January 30 against the University of Puerto Rico – Rio Piedras.  The Patriots also host Barton College on Friday, January 31 and the University of Puerto Rico – Rio Piedras again on Saturday, February 1.

Notes: This will be the second time these two teams meet.  George Mason won the last matchup 3-0 in Puerto Rico during the 2005-06 season.

The Patriots are coming off a trip to Phoenix, Arizona, where they took one out of two matches against Grand Canyon University. Radoslav Popov led the Green and Gold in kills for the first match (12).  Meanwhile, Jack Wilson and Robbie Stoeckinger had a team-high 14 kills each in the second match against the Antelopes.   In both matches combined, Pete Cuppernull dished out a team-best 87 assists over the weekend. 

The University of Puerto Rico – Rio Piedras is 0-1 so far this season and faceoff against Marymount University on January 29.

Notes:  The Bulldogs come into this match with a 2-3 record on the year, most recently beating Limestone College 3-2.  Barton will travel to New Jersey to take on NJIT on January 30 before they arrive in Fairfax.

The Bulldogs are led by Junior Outside Hitter Zach McCalla, who has a team-high 59 kills on the season.  Defensively, Barton is led by Michael McMahon who has a total of 59 digs so far this year.
