Mason
concludes non-conference action this week with games against the University of
Richmond and University of Maryland on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Patriots are
15-8 this season against non-CAA teams.
Shortstop
Brig Tison continues to pace the Mason offense during his senior campaign,
hitting a team-best .357 with 70 hits, 39 runs scored and 11 stolen bases. Classmate
Zack Helgeson has posted team-highs with 36 RBI's, 17 doubles and 10 home runs.
Junior closer Chris O'Grady recorded two saves over the weekend bringing his season
total to 13, just one shy of the school record for season saves held by Jordan
Flasher '07.

Mason will look to sweep the season series with the Spiders on Tuesday after
rallying for a 12-10 win earlier this season in Richmond. Trailing 8-1 after
four innings, the Patriots scored three runs in the top of the fifth, five runs
in the top of the eighth and three runs in the top of the ninth to snap Richmond's
11-game winning streak.
Tuesday's
game marks the beginning of an eight-game road trip for Richmond. The Spiders continue to boast one of the most powerful offenses in the country, ranking
fourth in home runs with 50 and tenth in the nation in slugging percentage at
.465. Junior first baseman Jacob Mayers has a team-high 42 RBI's and is
hitting .320 this season, while senior outfielder Phil Ruzbarsky is hitting a
team-best .359.

The
Patriots will also look to take the season series against Maryland after edging
the Terps, 7-6, in College Park a month ago. The non-conference affair featured
two ties and six lead changes, with Mason taking the lead for good on an RBI
single by redshirt sophomore outfielder Josh Leemhuis in the eighth.
Junior
outfielder Jordan Hagel is hitting a team-best .324 with 55 hits, 29 runs scored,
16 doubles and 14 stolen bases, while senior shortstop Alfredo Rodriguez has
driven in a team-high 33 runs while hitting .294.
