RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Sherrod Wright's heroics led the George Mason men's basketball team past Richmond on Saturday afternoon, and today he was recognized by the Colonial Athletic Association as its Co-Player of the Week. It is Wright's second award of the year, earning it on December 10 as well.

Wright scored a team-high 22 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, in Mason's 67-64 victory over the Spiders in the Governor's Holiday Hoops Classic. The Mount Vernon, N.Y., native was 8-of-11 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range. He also had three assists and three steals.

Wright has scored 20 or more points in three straight games, the first Patriot to do so since Cam Long in January 2010. He shares this week's award with Damion Lee of Drexel, and becomes the third Patriot to win this season after classmate Bryon Allen earned the league's first award of the season.

Leading the team and ranked fifth in the conference, Wright is averaging 16.9 points per game on 55.7 percent field goal shooting (fourth in the CAA). He is also the conference's top 3-point shooter, connecting on 47.5 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc.

Wright and the Patriots return to action on Saturday, traveling to the University of South Florida. Tip-off from the Sun Dome is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Network, including locally on MASN.
