The George Mason men's and women's track and field teams
competed at Princeton on Friday and Saturday and with one day remaining at the
IC4A and ECAC Championships, the men are in 18th place while the
women are in 24th place.
A pair of men recorded point-scoring finishes on Saturday as
Wes Sun finished fifth in the pole vault and David Wellington finished seventh
in the decathlon. Sun cleared 4.95 meters to record four points for the
Patriots. Wellington, meanwhile, recorded 6,350 points in the event and posted
two points for Mason.
Qualifying for finals on Sunday were Rachaunn Ruffin and
Adrian Vaughn in the 200 meters, David Verburg and Kevin Wilson in the 400
meters, and the 4X100, 4X400 and 4X800-meter relay teams.
On the women's side, Amanda Denger was fourth in the
heptathlon, compiling 4,570 points in the event and recording the only five
points on the day for the Patriots. Crystal Clark qualified for the 100-meter
finals with a seventh-place finish in the semifinals, Daianna Barron qualified
eighth in the 400 meters and the 4X400-meter relay team also advanced to
Sunday.
Sunday's competition begins at 10 a.m. and concludes by 3:30
p.m.
