George Mason guard Cam Long
was recognized for an
outstanding senior season as he was selected to the Virginia University
Division All-State Second Team. The voting was done by the Virginia Sports Information
Directors Association (VaSID). Long was also chosen to take part in this week's
prestigious Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, a chance to showcase his
talents among the 64 best seniors in the country.
Long, an All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team
honoree, ranked 10th in the conference in scoring (15.1 ppg), sixth in steals
(1.4 spg), 11th in field goal percentage (47.9%) and 14th in assists (2.9 apg).
He shot 43.2 percent from three-point range, the third highest mark in the
league, and scored double figures in 30 of Mason's 34 contests. He was the
sixth player in program history to earn All-CAA recognition three times,
joining a list that includes Carlos Yates, Ricky Wilson, Kenny Sanders, George
Evans, and Jai Lewis.
It is the first All-State selection for Long, who completed
his career with Mason ranked fifth in career assists (354), sixth in steals (147)
14th
in career scoring (1,400 points), ninth in field goal percentage
(.383), and 16th
in rebounds (512). He appeared in 132 games for the
Green and Gold, more than any other player in program history.
Long will participate in the Portsmouth Invitational
Tournament, which will take place from April 6-9 in Portsmouth, Va.
The annual showcase, in its 59th
iteration, features 64 of the best college
seniors from across the country in a twelve-game tournament before
