BOSTON - Junior Ryan Pearson scored a career-high 24 points and the George Mason men's basketball team posted one of its most dominant wins of the season, an 86-60 Colonial Athletic Association victory at Northeastern on Wednesday night. Overcoming a powerful winter storm which altered travel plans and pounded Boston all day Wednesday, the Patriots tallied their first road conference victory of the season and improved to 11-5 (3-2 CAA). Northeastern remained winless in CAA play at 0-5 and dropped to 4-12 overall.

Pearson, who connected on 10-of-14 field goal attempts, was nearly matched by a 20-point evening from senior Cam Long, who was 8-of-12 from the field en route to 20 points. Junior Andre Cornelius completed the upperclassmen trio in double figures with 11 points. Jonathan Lee and Joel Smith had 16 points each to lead the Husky offense, which was out-shot by a 67.3-to-50 percent margin.

Mason scored 11 of the first 12 points as the Huskies were held without a field goal for more than six minutes after the opening tap. Northeastern cut the deficit to 14-9 before Mason pushed it back into double digits where it remained for the rest of the game. At the half, Mason led 43-26, a 16-point lead which represented Mason's largest CAA road halftime lead since Jan. 11, 2003, when Mason led Towson 43-23 in Towson.

Into the second half, it was all Patriots. The 14-9 deficit at the 11:50 mark in the first half proved to be the closest the Huskies could get, as Mason grew its advantage as large as 32 in a rout which saw the Patriots' record their largest margin of victory in CAA road action since a 90-72 win at Hofstra last season. It was also the Patriots' first victory at Matthews Arena since the 2005-06 season.

The Patriots return south to open a two-game homestand on Saturday afternoon, hosting Georgia State at 2 p.m. in a game that will be televised on Comcast SportsNet.
