Newark, Del..-- The George Mason men's and women's swim and diving teams competed at the University of Delaware on Saturday afternoon and Ashley Danner continued the strong start to her junior year as she won the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke as well as the 200-yard individual medley. Junior Preston Wolter also had an excellent meet for the men's team as he won the 500-yard freestyle while finishing second in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly. Junior diver Bryan Bahr finished first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
The women's team finished behind both Delaware and James Madison at the tri-meet while the men's finished second to the Blue Hens in a dual meet.
On the men's side, Fernando Rubio also had a strong meet winning the 200-yard individual medley and finishing third in the 1000-yard freestyle. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Wolter, Joey Kelly, Austin Witherow and Hans Johnsen took first place as well. John Schmitz was second in the 1-meter dive and third in the 3-meter dive while Charles Castagna, Cole Jamison and Mark Nelson swept the 100-yard butterfly and Jacob Baumgardner and Matthew Fitzenreiter finished second and third in the 200-yard IM, respectively, behind Rubio. Baumgardner picked up a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke while Kelly was third in the 100-yard freestyle and Jared Melkun was third in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Other strong women's performances came from Paige Impink, who was second in the 100-yard backstroke, and the 200-yard medley relay team of Danner, Impink, Nicole Harmon and Anna Ratana, which was third.
