Peyton Ehmke, a former five-year letterwinner and four-year captain for the Patriots, returned to the George Mason women's volleyball program as an assistant coach in March 2024.
Ehmke played in 127 matches during her George Mason career, including the final 71 consecutive matches of her career. A San Clemente, Calif. native, she earned A10 All-Rookie honors in 2018 and led the Atlantic 10 in total blocks and blocks per set as a senior.
Following her playing career, Ehmke served as a graduate assistant with George Mason during the 2023 spring season before joining the Davidson women's volleyball staff. During her time with the Wildcats, she worked primarily with middles and opposites, with an emphasis on offense and blocking. In 2023, Davidson went 19-10 overall and 11-7 in Atlantic 10 play, while its middle blockers ranked first and third in the conference in hitting percentage.
Ehmke helped guide the Patriots to a breakout 2025 season. George Mason finished non-conference play 7-4, its best start since 2009, and posted its first winning season since 2010. The Patriots also earned a berth in the Atlantic 10 Tournament for the first time since 2018. Three players were named to the postseason A10 awards as well.Â
