Biography

"Zania has a cheeky flare to her game where she can get out of extremely tight situations with a deft touch or body fake. She is competitive and aggressive and has become a very strong leader on this squad. The game rhythm seems to ride off of her engagement in the match. 2011: Second Team All-CAA selection...Started all 20 matches as a senior...Recorded two assists coming against Saint Francis and James Madison...Put four of just 15 shots taken on goal...Played season-high 108 minutes in the double-overtime game against Northeastern.

2010:
Appeared in 16 matches with starts in each of those contests... Had two goals and two assists on the season including one game-winning goal... Had the game-winning goal in Mason's season-opening 2-0 win over Howard... Played a career-high 110 minutes in a 1-1 tie with Mount St. Mary's... Had two assists against VMI in a 7-0 victory... Against Northeastern, scored in a 3-1 win... Took just 11 shots on the year with four shots on goal.

2009: Appeared in all 20 games and started 12 contests... Had one assist on the season... Found Tiana Kallenberger for a goal in the 75th minute of Mason's 4-0 win over Howard... Took five shots on the year with attempts against Coastal Carolina, Cornell, Northeastern, Delaware and Towson... Mason was 5-0 when she attempted a shot.

2008: Played in all 19 games in 2008 with 10 starts... Had one goal and three assists with five points... Was sixth on the team in points, second on the team in assists and sixth in points... Tied for the team lead in goals, assists and points among all freshmen... Took six shots with five on goal and the 83.3 shots on goal percentage was the highest of anyone on the team... Took first three career shots, putting them all on net and scoring once against Howard... Had two assists in the contest as well... Had third career assist on Mason's game-winning goal in the season finale at Towson... Named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and received the CAA Commissioner's Award.

High School/Club: Played four years of varsity soccer at St. John's College High School in Washington D.C. earning fourletters for the Cadets... Named to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference First-Team and was Honorable Mention All-Met... Captained the team to a WCAC title her senior season... Played three years of club soccer for the Freestate Shooters

Personal: Parents are Jean and Selwyn Barnum... Has two siblings, Omar Cooke, 28, and Olivia, 11... A 2008 graduate of St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C.... Member of the National Honor Society... Also recruited by George Washington, American, N.C. State and Rutgers.. Major is Art and Visual Technology.
