Dominic Rutan

Dominic Rutan is the assistant coach for the George Mason Women's soccer program. He entered his second season with the team in the 2023 season.

Dominic was first named as a volunteer assistant coach in July 2022. The following July, was promoted to full-time assistant coach.

"We are excited to round out our women's soccer staff with such a quality coach," said had coach Manya Puppione (2021-2023). "Dominic will be key in our video analysis, tactical breakdown of training sessions and analyzing our performance in games, as his knowledge of the game is very high. His international connections add another layer of depth to what he can bring to our program. He has already hit the ground running with us this preseason and has fit in perfectly with our culture."

Dominic has worked in the capacity of a professional youth coach for the past 8 years aiding the development of ECNL, Girls Academy, and youth national team players in the Northern Virginia area. In addition to coaching, Dominic is a coach developer with the United Soccer Coaches education department with experience hosting & delivering their advanced diploma courses. He has also joined Virginia Youth Soccer's coaching education department as a coaching education instructor.

Prior to coaching collegiately, Dominic began his coaching career with high school programs. He was named the inaugural varsity head coach (2020-21) of the Lightridge High School boys' soccer program. Two members of his former coaching staff went on to earn their own varsity head coach positions in high school programs and others have continued to enjoy distinguished careers coaching youth soccer.

Dominic held the role of assistant coach (2017-19) with the Stone Bridge High School girls' soccer program. His efforts aided the varsity team in having of the most successful seasons in recent program history, highlighted by Potomac District and Region 5C Championships and a semi-final appearance in the VHSL 5A State Championship.

The Kaiserslautern, Germany, native graduated from James Madison University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and in 2016 with a Master of Arts in Teaching. He holds a UEFA B License with the Deutscher Fußball-Bund, National B Coaching License with the U.S. Soccer Federation, and a Premier Diploma with United Soccer Coaches. In October 2023, Dominic was one of 30 (out of 275 national applicants) to be selected as mentee of United Soccer Coaches's prestigious 30 Under 30 Program for the class of 2023-2024.
