George Mason Women's Volleyball Head Coach
Megan Bachmann has announced
Peyton Ehmke '22 will return to the Patriots volleyball program as an assistant coach on March 26, 2024.
"Peyton couldn't be a better fit for this position," said Bachmann. "Her extensive knowledge of the university and her deep-rooted love for the program is undeniable. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and there is no doubt it will make her an incredible recruiter, coach, and ambassador for both volleyball and athletics. Even before she joined the coaching ranks, she was always mentoring and bringing out the best in those around her, and our team will benefit greatly from having her in the gym. George Mason is incredibly lucky to have Peyton back in Fairfax!"
A five-year letterwinner and four-year captain at Mason, Ehmke played in 127 matches as a Patriot, including the last 71 consecutive games of her career. The San Clemente, Calif. native was named to the A-10 All-Rookie team in 2018 and lead the A-10 in total blocks and blocks per set in her final season.
Ehmke was the Patriots' graduate assistant during the 2023 spring season. She then joined the Davidson College women's volleyball staff prior to the 2023 season, where the Wildcats went 19-10 overall and 11-7 in A-10 play. At Davidson, Ehmke worked primarily with the team's middles and opposites while focusing on offense and blocking. Last season, Davidson middles finished first and third in the Atlantic 10 in hitting percentage. Ehmke also worked with three-time Atlantic 10 Libero of the Year Bella Brady.
"Mason means the world to me, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be back home," said Ehmke. "I truly understand what it means to be a Patriot and look forward to finding success on the court alongside our players and staff. The support system and camaraderie within the program is truly special. I take an immense amount of pride in being a former athlete at GMU and hope to see our athletes share similar experiences in their time here."
