Olivia

Olivia Vita-Farnsworth

Olivia Vita-Farnsworth joined the George Mason University Athletic Training staff in June of 2019. Olivia currently serves as the primary athletic trainer for the women's basketball and women’s tennis programs. 

Prior to joining the Mason staff, Olivia served as an assistant athletic trainer for St. Bonaventure University (Olean, NY).  There, she acted as the primary athletic trainer for their women’s basketball and cross country/track programs from 2017-2019.  Before St. Bonaventure, Olivia served at Binghamton University (Binghamton, NY) from 2016 to 2017 as the primary athletic trainer for their softball and track & field programs.  

Olivia served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for Texas State University (San Marcos, TX) from 2014 to 2016.  During her time in Texas, she was responsible for the sports medicine needs of all varsity and sub-varsity teams at Jack C. Hays High School.  In this capacity, Olivia provided daily sports medicine care for student-athletes while acting as a preceptor for the undergraduate students enrolled in the Texas State Athletic Training Education Program.
While working as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer, Olivia earned her Master of Science Degree in Athletic Training from Texas State University.  Her degree work focused on conducting research identifying biomechanical disadvantages in adolescent athletes.  She also developed a culminating project focused on improving student retention and persistence rates in entry-level athletic training education programs.  She completed her graduate work in May of 2016.

Olivia is originally from Baltimore, MD.  She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training from Towson University in May of 2014.  She became a certified Athletic Trainer upon graduating from Towson.  Olivia is currently licensed in the state of Virginia and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), Mid Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association (MAATA), and the Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association (VATA).  She is a certified American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor and is certified in Graston M1 techniques
