2017: Played in 13 matches and 29 sets…earned a start at Princeton (Feb. 18), in which he picked up one of his two kills during the season, along with season-high three digs 18 assists. Coleman tallied 85 assists (2.93 per set), which was second-most by a Patriot in 2017…also contributed an ace apiece in the season-opener at Belmont Abbey (Jan. 6) and against Barton (March 24)…14 digs and three block assists on the defensive end to finish the campaign with 5.5 points. The Saugus, Calif. native recorded season-high 23 assists at NJIT (Feb. 17).
2016: Played in 26 sets for the Patriots…Finished second on the team with 200 assists…Owned a 7.69 assists per set mark…Had four matches of 30+ assists…Collected six digs at BYU (1/9)..Had 33 assists, one dig and one block at Charleston (1/16)…Recorded 37 assists, one dig and a block assist against Limestone (2/6)…Posted a season-high 41 assists against Lees-McRae (2/13) to go along with three digs…Recorded a season-high six digs with 32 assists and a block assist against Harvard (2/20)…Blocked two attempts at SFU (2/26).
Prep: Justin Coleman chose to pursue an intercollegiate career in volleyball after joggling that sport along with basketball for four years during high school, winning six varsity letters in total representing Saugus High School. His volleyball skills stood out his freshman year, when he won the Coach's Award and progressed to the point that he was named the Centurions' Most Valuable Player as a senior. As a junior, the setter earned a spot on the CIF Southern Section Foothill League Second Team 2014, before breaking into the First Team the following year. Coleman is a product of the Legacy Volleyball Club, which he represented for six years.
Personal: Son of Charles and Melissa Coleman...has an older brother and a younger sister. Coleman still finds space for basketball in his hobbies, where it sits near the top, right next to going to the beach. The Criminology major was a three-time Scholar Athlete award winner and two-time nominee for the Sammy Award, which recognized a student-athlete's overall, beyond-athletic impact on the Centurion community.
