George Mason University Athletics

Joyner returns to George Mason in 2014 for his third season as an assistant coach.

Last season Joyner helped the Patriots post an overall record of 15-12 and 11-3 in the EIVA. The Patriots advanced to the EIVA Tournament for the 13th-consecutive season but exited early with a 3-2 loss to Harvard in the semifinals. Mark Jones was named the Uvaldo Acosta Memorial EIVA Co-Player of the Year, while five additional Patriots collected all-conference honors.

In 2012, Joyner helped lead the Patriots to an appearance in the finals of the EIVA Championship at Penn State University in addition to having three athletes named to the All-EIVA squad.

A graduate and former memer of the Mason men's volleyball team, Joyner appeared in 80 matches and over 200 sets. He finished his career ranked fourth all-time with 1,992 assists and earned First Team All-EIVA accolades as a senior.

A native of Chester, Va., Joyner is currently working towards his masters of education in curriculum and instruction with a concentration in secondary education, history and social sciences. He received his undergraduate degree from Mason in history.
