Billy Chiles enters the fall 2021 season in his sixth year as an assistant coach with the men's soccer program at George Mason. Chiles serves as the goalkeepers coach for the Patriots.

Chiles, a native of Silver Spring, Md., spent the previous five seasons as a club coach for the Maryland United FC in Bowie, Md. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Towson, from 2009-13 until the men’s soccer program was dissolved.

As a player at Towson, he was a NSCAA Second Team All-American goalkeeper. He was also named First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association and tabbed to the CAA All-Tournament Team. He was drafted by the Columbus Crew in the first round of the 2008 MLS Draft. He played one season professionally with Crystal Baltimore of the USL Second Division. 

He graduated from Towson in 2008 with his bachelor’s degree in sports management. He received his master’s degree in sports administration from Canisius College in 2015.
