A 10-year veteran of the George Mason men's basketball program, Tyler Jorns was promoted to director of scouting and analytics in summer 2019.
Previously, Jorns handled much of Mason's film breakdown and scouting as a graduate manager from 2017-19. A 2013 Mason graduate, Jorns served four seasons as the head undergraduate student manager from 2009-13 and another three years as director of player development from 2013-15.
In his new role, Jorns will work closely with Paulsen in the areas of team and opponent scouting, non-conference scheduling and a host of other analytic roles.
During his undergraduate career, Jorns earned valuable experience as a student assistant at the USA U-17 Basketball Camp, Hoop Group Basketball Camp and ESPNHS National High School Invitational. As director of player development at Mason, Jorns managed video operations for the Patriots while serving as co-director of camps.
In 2015, Jorns earned a video internship with the Utah Jazz where he continued to develop his film editing and breakdown skills. At the conclusion of his internship, he moved back into the college game and served a two-year stint as director of operations at the United States Air Force Academy.
Coach Paulsen on Jorns
"Tyler did a phenomenal job for two years as a graduate manager on our staff. He served tirelessly in a position he was overqualified for and made a significant impact on our coaching staff. We are also grateful for the operations dual role he took on this summer and the efficiency and attitude which he brought to that important area of our program. This is a well-deserved promotion for Tyler and recognition for the work he has done. It's also symbolic of the continued support of our administration to give us the tools to compete at the highest levels of the A-10."
