Ricky Weipz joined the George Mason men’s basketball staff as a graduate manager in summer 2024.
Weipz comes to Fairfax from his alma mater of Arizona State, where he most recently served as a graduate assistant for the Sun Devils in 2023-24. As a GA, Weipz oversaw all filming operations, assisted with scouting reports and recruiting visits and helped organize team travel and business operations. He also designed all of the program’s in-house graphics and worked with the department’s content team throughout the campaign. In addition, Weipz hired and oversaw the program’s staff of 10 undergraduate student managers.
Weipz also worked with the program as an undergraduate student manager from 2019-23 and served as head manager for three seasons. During his tenure, he also worked as assistant coordinator for Bobby Hurley Basketball Camps and oversaw operations across three on-campus locations.
During his time at ASU, the Sun Devils put together a pair of 20-win seasons, a 2023 NCAA Tournament appearance and earned six wins over top-25 opponents.
Weipz graduated with a degree in sports journalism from ASU’s famed Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 2022.
In addition to his work at ASU, Weipz has gained valuable creative content experience while serving as social media director for Rising Coaches. From 2021-23, he coordinated the daily operations of the organization’s social platforms and oversaw growth across all of the organization’s accounts.
A native of Mount Laurel, N.J., Weipz resides in Fairfax.
