Mikala showed off her defensive prowess as well by being the best non-libero digger for Shawnee Heights both as a junior and a senior. After contributing 277 kills, 252 digs and 53 acaes (fourth-best in Shawnee Heights history) in 2015, Mikala was named the Centennial League Player of the Year to cap off a memorable career and to earn her a spot in the 2016 Kansas Volleyball Association All-Star Match. In addition, the Topeka, Kan. native received four varsity letters each for basketball and track and field, where she continued representing the Thunderbirds in style. Wells was a 2015 All-Centennial League Honorable Mention in basketball and is Shawnee Heights' high jump record holder. She was a two-time high jump medalist at the Kansas University Relays (2013 and 2014) and a medalist in the 4x400 m relay at the same event (2013), contributing to she being named to the First Team All-Centennial League as a freshman, sophomore, and a senior.

Personal: Daughter of Bob and Coleen Wells and the youngest of four siblings.
